Evidence checklist

Questions we ask about every ingredient

A scientific citation alone does not prove that an ingredient or product works. The relevance, quality, dosage, population, and outcome of the research must also be examined.

  • Has the ingredient been studied in humans?
  • Was the studied dosage similar to the product dosage?
  • Were the results clinically meaningful?
  • Were findings replicated by independent researchers?
  • Does ingredient evidence apply to the complete formula?
  • Are there known safety concerns or interactions?

Ingredient evidence is not product evidence

A study on one ingredient does not automatically prove that a multi-ingredient supplement produces the same result. Formula dosage, ingredient combinations, manufacturing quality, and the studied population can materially affect the conclusion.
